Re: Fished McMichael Creek 2-19-23
My firm is removing a dam on McMichael's upstream of where you're at there. Hopefully this summer. Private waters, but it will help the river below it as the current impoundment is a 4 plus acre heat sync now in summer. And the dam itself is a fish blockage for upstream passage. Looks like you had ...

Re: Snow
My understanding is NJ and surrounding states does not rely on snowpack for ground water like the western states. We need rain, if we get at least the norm for the next few months we should be OK for Spring. BINGO. we have a winner! The rest of you must stay after school for remedial work!!! ...

Not NJ water. That's a huge brookie. Willows on bank are also not native to NJ.

Re: who's going out on 2-8-23? close to 60*
Well, who went out and how did you do? had to work  . but definitely going out tomorrow. suppose to be close to 60* :o :o :o :o How was the wind? I had to walk a half mile of the SBR in the river today to do a conceptual design and had LBS crawling on me. I saw one trout rise repeatedly, and i...

Re: who's going out on 2-8-23? close to 60*
After this cold snap and a warmer than average few weeks, the long range forecast is calling for colder/snowier weather from late Feb/March as La Nina dissipates and more arctic air can break through to the Northeast/mid-Atlantic region. I believe this tracks with what Puxatawny Phil said, so it mu...

High of only 52 that day in trout country, but that's still warm for winter. Expect earlier hatches this spring based on our mild winter. Temps, not snow. Snow has little impact on hatches for the most part. Temps are what it's all about.

Re: Shannon's soft re-opening
The green sign outside will remain according to the new owner Abraham Beates. I don't know all the particulars but from what I do know it seemed easier to go with a new name and entity. Did all of you see that due to legal constraints they had to rebrand? South Branch Outfitters now, just saw this ...

Re: Native Fish Coalition NJ chapter
Well, that was fast.....I'm no longer state chair. I got promoted to National Vice Chair - North. John Kosar, who was my Vice Chair, took the Chair role for NJ and he will do a much better job than I did in my short 5 or so months in that role. My new role is helping the 12 states I have under me an...

Re: Anyone been out
Rivers got high with yesterdays rain Sunday should be decent True dat (because I'm so from the 'hood), but they are falling back fast. SBR is only 288cfs which is fishable now, but should be in the 100s by Sunday. I like that river anywhere under 200 cfs and it can easily be fished well above that ...

Re: Anyone been out
Thinking of maybe fishing sunday no sure where yet but a few hours of trout fishing will be nice Any one been out or planning to be out? Planning? Yes. Getting out? No. Today would have been a perfect fit for my schedule, but I'm not hard up enough to chase stocked trout in the rain in 35 degree we...

Re: Shannon's soft re-opening
Update: they are open daily, 9-4 for now. Expanded hours once primary fishing season kicks off. Also, they will have a booth at the Edison FF Show next week. The new owners are Abraham and Lyndsey Beates. I should tell them to change their last names to Beatis.

Re: ice fishing fatalities
Looking like it might be a bust for January this year. We had a couple of days of safe ice on certain lakes and ponds and now zip. May have to do it the old fashioned way and trout fish with waders in the rivers.

Re: This is what a true trout angler looks like
Rusty, it’s three years already. I helped stock the Musky with Rick and others. Never forget the time sitting on his tail gate going up a field when he stepped on the gas and I fell off onto the tall grass. I spent most of my time with Harry in his truck till we found another place to stock. I hope...

LOL, I used to email that to Rick when he was still very much with us to bust his chops. I'm also missing my friend. Hard to imagine it's been three years already!BiggerThomas wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 11:47 amWhen I first saw that pic, I saw Rick E. (aka Stonefly on this board). RIP Rick.
Great photo, Troutman.
