Hit the upper SBR today
Got out for the first time this fall and hit the upper SBR on my day off and wow do we need rain. This section of the river fished well in the Spring...was finding fish in the Spring really spread out and in all sorts of nooks and crannies with all the rain we had than but now its just a trickle. So...

Re: Report: Clairmont Stretch 25 May, 2019
All the rain we've gotten in the last 9 months or so has really helped that stretch out.

Re: Report: Clairmont Stretch 25 May, 2019
Gonna assume...probably incorrectly that Gronsky's is where the small bridge crosses the river but either way, why is it called Gronsky's?

Re: Claremont Bows
I'm by no means an expert on whether a rainbow is a club or a state fish but my guess would be that that rainbow was stocked by the Anglers Anonymous club that is directly upstream of the Claremont. The upstream border of the Claremont is where the club ends.

Re: First trifecta of my life
Mepps joke are funny...hurtful but funny. Here's a pic of the rainbow. I'm assuming it got stocked by state so it traveled a decent ways upstream from the first stocking point in Long Valley.

First trifecta of my life
Hit the upper SBR today caught my first wild brook trout. Than I followed it up with a rainbow. Stated getting nervously excited that I might have a shot at the trifecta which I've never done and I eventually got a wild brown. I than ended the day by landing a really nice brown. I ditched the fly ro...

Re: Black River Road
That is a really pretty stretch of river for sure. I know there's No Trespassing signs along the road for the entire stretch so I would think you cannot access the river from the road side bank and understand there's club water right below Hacklebarney for a bit but it also looks like the state owns...

Black River 10/28
Hit the Black River up yesterday. Started at the Mill than drove down to Hacklebarney and fished some in there and walked Rhinehart Brook for a decent stretch just to check it out cause I've never done that before. Got one 14 inch rainbow on a red zebra midge. Some really nice looking water in the B...

South Branch strikeout
Finally got out for the first time in forever. Started at old Claremont TCA and than hit a bunch of spots from Long Valley down to the KLG. Avoided an old go to where one side of the river is public but new owner on the other side likes to give me a hard time and didn't feel like the headache. Proba...

Re: The KLG
There are always trout there although they don't always cooperate. Not 100% sure but think you can keep 1 fish if its over 15 inch at certain times of the year. There are natives there and the state puts a lot of fish in there. Birds take some fish out but I think biggest prob is this time of year i...

Re: NBRR concrete walls
If we're talking about same spot...about 100 yards or so downstream of where the rivers meet than those walls used to be a bridge. I used to fish that section all the time when I was a kid and we'd swim under the bridge and jump off it when we weren't fishing but that was 25 years ago. I wanna say t...

Re: Upper SBR
Gave this place a shot yesterday after work. Made the hike from the fishing access parking lot off Bartley Rd. and walked upstream as far as I could till I ran into a small damn. Was fun to check out a new spot but this place was tough to fish and kinda disappointing...super tight with overhanging t...

Upper SBR
Looking to explore some new water. I've fished most stretches of the South Branch but one spot I've always wanted to try was the upper stretch in the WMA off of Bartley Rd. Not looking to spot burn and the area is pretty big so not looking for any specifics. If I park around where the Columbia Trail...

Re: Raritan river, Clairmont TCA
I live nearby that stretch so I fish it pretty frequently since its convenient and I also almost never see another person there. There are fish there but you really have to work to get them. Lotta really tight spaces in parts, especially the middle section with a ton of low lying trees and undercut ...

MR.MCR...funny this is after this happened I searched the internet for a long time trying to figure things out and I actually did come across your post and thought to myself...geez, this sounds exactly like what happened to me at the same spot so yeah, we're definitely talking about same place.

WMA state maps different than Tax Maps
Having an issue and was hoping maybe someone could help or point me in the right direction. Was recently fishing a WMA stretch and was told by a landowner from the private side of the bank that I could not fish there and that it was private property. I brought up that I thought it was a WMA but the ...
