Re: Hello and Board

Hi Andy, welcome, I play some guitar myself too but pretty much self taught and not much performing-skills under my belt. I found fishing and guitar to be two great hobbies :D I know a bit about tying but the whole scene is pretty impressive and complex. All I do is tie black marabou on a hook and g...

Re: Anyone Been Fishing?

both my friends hit creeks for browns and it was good. Water dropped back down pretty quickly. Although it did hit pretty much the highest peaks this year in some gages.

Re: Difficult fishing...

great brown, the fallen trees make it tough yea. Sometimes just a challenge finding a way around to move on, but fishing them can get tricky too, but also sometimes good if you stealthly get inbetween them for a cast :D

Re: New york, trout fishing after Oct 15th

I see NY closes trout fishing (even CnR) after October 15th, for at least most of the streams im looking into. (I see exceptions for border waters and great lakes tribs) I wonder why they did this, in comparison to PA and NJ which just has closures for stocked trout. I reckon the October-November p...

Re: Bent hooks

The jigheads I use I reshape to have a wider gap. I bend it first on the shank, sorta in the middle. Bend it forwards, inward. Then I grab it by the bend/barb and bend it back outward. In result I get a hook point more elevated above the eye of the jighook I noticed it's much better for hookups. I u...

Re: purty brookie

As far as bow fishing-what the heck do you do with a boat load of carp like that? The guy in the video is 'Rut Daniels'-he is a spoof character made up by Canadian Bud Fisher. He and is brother Mike Fisher (a former NHL player) started the Cathin' Deer brand of outdoor clothing. I don't know about ...

Re: NJ landlocked salmon

we hooked a few looking for lakers, they basically roam top of the water column and seek small lures like spoons. This is at least my experience with them, better advice can be given from someone more experienced

ISO your leaky hip-boot waders!

I wear stockingfoot waders, so for boots, I wear those cheap PVC hip waders. I find they're great for an added layer against thorns, and many other personal preferences vs normal boots. Leaky ones are just as good, since I poke holes in them anyways so that they drain water once im out of the water ...

Look at the positive, you likely saved at least 3 to 5 adult brook trout by killing one brown trout.

i dont follow the channel so I may be mixing it up with another gentleman; but I think the channel is notorious for fishing private clubs and off-limit waters

Re: so angry at myself- wild brown

ive had fish get gill hooked on barbless jigs and still die, and my pb brown was deep hooked on a jig in the top of the mouth, bled. it sucks when fish take stuff down. I found using big trebles or big lures with trebles helps them not take it down too far. Like those tiny inline spinners, fish happ...
