Re: Diseased PA Brookie
A full half of PA's trout hatcheries are riddled with furunculosis. But PA stocks those fish anyway. Ironically, NJ has taken a more conservative approach with furunculosis and trout coming out of the Pequest Hatchery.

Re: S branch/main stem 12/2/21:
Fished the lower South branch below Clinton at a few spots and finally caught 1 at Three Bridges. Moved down to the main stem where I caught 2 near Duke Island Park. So I did better on NT (non trout) non fall stocked water that I did on the fall stocked South branch. One trout from the Raritan was ...

Re: SBRR encroachers
the Drake's Brook stocking completely explains it, especially the ones Drossi and I caught along different points along Bartley Rd. I did not know Drake's was stocked. Now I have to say it- that is a STUPID plan by the State. WTH would you create a new WTS designation, with the apparent intention o...

Re: Wild Brook trout
Call me what you will but when im in tiny lil trout streams my fallfish always get chucked up onto the bank, deep in the woods....racoons gotta eat too. Curious as to why you would do that with a native fish that trout eat when they are younger? They do not compete with trout other than to eat the s...

Re: SBRR encroachers
The uppermost stocking location by the Division (not by clubs) is the bridge over the river in "downtown" Long Valley, the old route 24 as locals know it. Above that is only one club, Anglers Anonymous. We catch a LOT of state stocked fish in Shannon's private water, and they are only stocked downst...

Re: SBRR encroachers
Great point. We also know about 10% of stocked bows head upstream versus downstream or staying put based on telemetry studies on the Flatbrook by a Division biologist.troutfishing4life wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 10:03 amDrakes brook is stocked so they could be swimming down from there as well besides up from the long valley bridge

Re: Wild Brook trout
drossi hit me up ill just dump some brookies from dunnfield and start keeping all those creek chubs for my Sardine-Pizza recipe. Worked with middle brook, should work with any other stream amiright?? Jokes aside, I wonder if they would find it optimal to introduce brookies from another stream in th...

Re: Wild Brook trout
I mean if it's no longer populated with brook trout it A) might as well be added to the stocking list or B) might be worthwhile to try planting wild browns from another documented wild trout stream. Nah, it's good PR for it to remain classified as such. Everyone knows the presence of Brook Trout in...

Re: SBRR encroachers
Other than the obvious reply that fish swim, they have decent pectoral fins and could be wild bows. You are correct about the clubs, especially Angler's Anonymous which is just above the old Claremont stretch. How was the beaver activity? I live very nearby, but haven't been there in a few years.

Re: Wild Brook trout
With the high water levels I hit a wild brook trout stream that's on state land in search of fish. Had a ball catching a half dozen 7"-8" wild................fall fish! Not a brookie to be found where I used to catch quite a few, they've been replace by the fall fish. I strongly suspect that someth...

Re: Maine North Woods next week
Im going up to east side of Seneca Lake for rifle season. Ive got several friends that live around Burdett and Watkins Glen that have a lot of property. Nice. We have a 185 acre farm on one side of route 16 in New Lisbon/Garrattsville and a new 112 acre farm with standing corn, a trout stream, seve...

Re: Maine North Woods next week
we saw two... the guys in the cabin next to us bagged a few, but they had pointers. Just back from my upstate NY bow and small game trip. Lots of woodcock, but rabbits and grouse populations were fairly low for us. We flew grouse, but nobody got a good shot on one. I didn't get any shots at grouse ...

Re: Thank Shannons :
While I say a big thank you to Shannons for this. I think the timing of the stocking is poor. They should have waited until November after every googan with a stringer stops fishing until the spring and then stock the fish. These are nice fish that would hold nicely all winter but alot go into buck...

Re: Maine North Woods next week
Too bad it was a down cycle year for grouse. They are my favorite small game to pursue, hands down! At least the fish cooperated. Re: Golfing
Downstream needs work. Lots of trees down and shallow water. As in the horse farm below the bridge or on Fiddler's stretch? The horse farm is a mess, and the owner is someone I wouldn't work for. I've dealt with him in the past. He's got the farm up for sale. After paying $2 million for it, he aske...

Fiddler's Elbow CC is my guess. Was there late last week looking at some recent widening of the river following Henri and Ida. May do some more work there as a result. Downstream needs work.
