Re: Catfishing from the Bank
I have cat fished for many years in Spruce Run reservoir. Worms work fine. Also go at night after a rain and fish the peninsula by Mueller Toyota. Cast, let it sink and wait. They will also eat spinners, rattletraps, pretty much anything but a stinky bait works best. be ready though as I have lande...

Re: Cut-off temp for summer trout?
Welcome to the forum. 68F is the most accepted temperature to stop fishing at because once the temps starting climbing and hit 68, 70 isnt far behind.
The weather for the next 10 days is not looking good for trout.

Re: Catfishing from the Bank
Hi, Fish Greenwood Lake. Rent or take your boat or whatever and bottom fish with a piece of hotdog on your hook. We did it this way back in the fifties. Either fish Jersey side or New York side doesn’t matter they are through out the lake and quite large. Vance Hotdogs are my bait of choice! I don’...

Catfishing from the Bank
I’m looking to get into some catfish. No preference but half decent channels of a few pounds would be nice. Looking to bottom fish somewhere near Somerset county. Any recommendations?

Re: Gunpowder River Maryland-tailwater fishery
I fished it once. I fished the 2 miles of river below the dam, very nice water, great for nymphing! There is parking on Falls Rd and on a road lower downstreeam, Masemore Rd. Im pretty sure I fished from Masemore rd upstream to Prettyboy Dam. Fished was better close to the dam, more rocky and KLG li...

Re: Is Facebook Killing Trout?
Interesting read but its the same one I have read dozens of times over from different authors and researchers. People have been taking pictures of their fish and boasting about it long before Facebook had an impact. Forums like this used to be flooded with topics and pictures during prime trout sea...

Re: Upstate NY
My club lodge is near tomennex. Fun place to fish. I stumbled on some shady dudes and their camp site there once. Calling Shannon's tomorrow to get my line sorted and hope for an evening next week. Is Shannons open? I drove by the other day and the door was cracked open and someone waiting outside....

Re: fishing nets
The reason I didnt have a net for the longest is as long as I seen what Im releasing Im good with that. Im even happier when its a gentleman's release. They unhook themselves afterwards  I always prefer the "short distance release" when fishing for pickerel.... Nothing Gentlemanly about those ...

Re: Sipping Rusty Spinners
people look at me like a crazy guy for fishing without waders with the water is still in the 50s. you get used to it in a few minutes. nothing a warm car and a glass of scotch cant fix later. Many of you know Agust Gudmundsson from TU. He wet wades all of the time regardless of water or air temps. ...

Re: How Many Others
If Im wearing my vest I have almost all of my flies on me at all times. Sometimes I travel light with a waist pack or small backpack and only take a small selection with me. Worse than forgetting the fly you need is donating the only one you had to the tree gods right when it started working!!

Sipping Rusty Spinners
Went for a walk through the KLG this evening with the wifey but I of course had bring a rod along. I grabbed my 6’6” boo and a small selection of flies and went out. No waders, just shorts, a backpack and some water shoes. Saw a riser near the trestle and went to work. I threw on a #14 rusty spinner...

Re: Is this your car on the WTS?
People with nice expensive cars carry the plate inside so as not to ruin the beauty of the vehicle. The law hasn't changed. My boss drives a 911 and keeps the plate in the car rather than drilling holes in the front bumper to mount it. He has been stopped once and the cop let him go saying many peo...

Re: Is this your car on the WTS?
Hi, You do not have to have a front plate on your car now a days in Jersey. New cars do not need them. Is that right? Recently, I've been seeing quite a few cars with only rear NJ plates, didn't know if they were just being mavericks or if a law had changed. Could be a new car with only rear temp p...

Re: Barbless Regulations and Their Pointlessness
They dont park. They drive slowly and check licenses from the road. Haven't seen one this year but last year I got checked 3 times... Exactly. Most anglers and hunters have no idea when their licenses were last checked because our COs use binoculars to watch from afar. If they approach you, it's ei...

Re: Catfish in the Big D
While I would love to catch a big flathead I dont think I have the necessary gear. I dont fish braid or have reels and rods with that kind of power. I would be happy catching channel cats. My friend wants to keep a few so those are probably better for eating anyway.
