Re: 2022 Fishing Digest

I've been ice fishing for 50 years now. It's largely a social event more than any other type of fishing I do. We always grill venison and do a fish fry on the ice, and there is often lots of booze flowing depending on where we are fishing (and driving). I've been out three times so far with plans fo...

Re: 2022 Fishing Digest

That's the reality for those of us that only practice C&R. I only practice C&R for freshwater species. Certain saltwater is a whole different ball game    I'm the exact same way. Been ice fishing three times already and haven't kept a fish. Even though some were very tasty such as ye...

Re: Monmouth county spot burners needed

The listed trout stocked waters are all seasonal, meaning trout are basically all dead by June 1st most years. I'm sure if you hit the stocking locations on some of the two or three streams in Monmouth County that are trout stocked in April or May, you'd catch some fish. Otherwise you're stuck with ...

Re: 2022 Fishing Digest

They should do what PA does and cut the time they stock in half but do heavy stockings and do the stocking for opening day and then 4 other stockings with the remaining trout I was thinking about that. Something like 3X/year on the bigger rivers that get stocked, but larger amounts each time, of co...

Re: 2022 Fishing Digest

Now I can't fish for two weeks in the early spring...I kind of enjoyed being able to fish the stocked waters for C&R. I guess it's back to harassing wild fish during that period... weenies No kill stretches of stocked streams are open year round, and they hold wild trout...Just saying. And you have...

Re: 2022 Fishing Digest

In my (very) informal surveys of friends and anglers I meet along the way, I'd say at least 80% of us preferred the Covid stockings. I let that be known to the new Chief whom I consider a friend and colleague, but it doesn't look like I carry much weight these days.

Re: Hard water fishing this weekend

A private pond in Sussex owned by a client of mine.....trout, largemouth, bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, and channel cats......all fish released to fight another day except for a lone brown trout the landowner asked us to kill for his son's dinner. Below: my client's bar is killer! That's a buddy ...

Re: Hard water fishing this weekend

Please post reports and pics! It went for one of the warmest Decembers to one of the coldest Januaries-When I head up north of Frederick to go skiing I see all kinds of ponds now frozen over but all my ice fishing gear is with my brother in New Jersey. It has been so cold and will remain so for the...

Hard water fishing this weekend

Ice fishing a private pond a client of ours owns. Looks like Sunday will be our day. Largemouth, crappie, sunfish, brook/brown/rainbow, and channel cats are all in this 22' deep gem in the hills. Pix in a few days if we do any good. It will be my first time on this pond with any tackle. We also plan...

Will there be a mask requirement, i was thinking about going but i am not wearing a mask all day. I am si...

Re: Fly fishing show??

I did recently receive an email soliciting vendors which is exceptionally late in the game compared to all other years. They are normally booked by May for the next ...

Re: Fly fishing show??

I had two new emails this morning for the FF Show, selling advance tickets and pushing the show itself. If they plan to cancel, they had better do it soon. My guess is they need the funds and will simply keep whatever advances they got for booths and ticket sales and take their lumps hoping they can...

Not me nor anyone I know of which is odd. Even if I haven't fished a given river, I usually know many others that have. Can't say that with the Niagra

Re: Opinion on waders

This brand must be pretty popular as they are sold out on my size on these https://aquazfishing.com/products/dryzip-wader?variant=40489386279102 :o Waders from every manufacturer remain difficult to obtain for fishing stores since Covid hit. It's gotten slightly better, but only slightly. Many item...
