Re: anyone getting out?
I'm not sure which stream you are referencing but on the small wild trout streams I have been fishing I have noticed a lot of blue herons, more than in the past. Those guys must be affecting the trout populations.

Re: Wild Trout Hike
That's awesome! Nothing like hiking those small streams, enjoying the beauty, catching a bunch of trout then doing it all over again.

Re: NJ Wild Trout
That brookie is the largest I have caught in NJ. It came out form an undercut bank grabbed the fly and headed right bank under the bank. I wasn't sure if I was going to get it out with the 6x tippet I was using.Razorbacker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 1:09 pmAlways cool to see some wild rainbows, and that brookie is awesome...

NJ Wild Trout
Went out again on Sunday looking for some NJ wild trout. Water temp was a cool 62, crystal clear and a great flow. Managed to land 7 rainbows and only 1 nice size brookie. Can't believe I didn't get into any browns since according to the state the section of the river I was fishing is listed as a "W...

Nice fish, I was hoping to get out today but just couldn't get free time. I'm thinking of going early tomorrow morning, hopefully the rivers will still be in good shape.

Re: Return to a favorite...Van Campens 8/5
Great post, I went through a lot with my parents 2 years ago and you are never prepared for it. I took a ride up by Van Campens on Saturday just to scout out the river. I knew that with all the rain the river would be unfishable but I was just looking for places to try once the water gets back to no...

Re: Flat Brook
I fished Flat Brook last week and the water temp reached 68 but no higher. All this rain should keep the temp ok. I took a ride there on Saturday to see how bad the rain had blown out the river and it was bad. It looked like a chocolate milk river. The river was over its banks in a few spots. I also...

I was actually below the confluence of LFB. I was planning on heading further upstream but never made it.

Big Flat Brook Water Temp
Since it has been cool the past few nights I decided to drive up to Big Flat Brook this morning to see if the temp was ok to fish. I hit there around 7:00am and the water was a cool 64 degrees. Since it stay overcast the highest the water temp got to was 66 degrees. I managed to land 8 rainbows in t...

Re: Cold PA Stream
I'm thinking about getting my PA license so I can keep trout fishing. I have never fished any of the PA rivers. Message me if you would be interested in having some company on one if your trips.

Re: Water Temps
Do you think the smaller streams like DFC or VCB would be OK to fish? I was hoping to get out early Saturday morning before it gets real hot.

Re: Water Temps
I haven't seen temps either, so I just drive to the river and check...it was too warm Monday..the SBR and The Pequest..I am assuming it is still too warm except in the AM, and after today, probably all the time...a heat wave is coming!! I was thinking that trout fishing the main rivers is close to ...

Re: Upper SBR
I fished that area about 2 weeks ago and caught a few wild browns (6" - 7"). Very tight fishing quarters but I had a lot of fun catching those browns. Just need to look for the deep pockets to fish. I caught the browns on bead head hares ear nymph fished without a strike indicator.

Re: Nymphing - going to the dark side
My last few outings have involved me suckily thrashing the water in vain with dries (using attractor patterns and terrestrials given no visible rises or hatch activity) and being spurned by almost every fish. I have decided to try to become a better nymph fisherman. I have done well in the past wit...

Re: Wild NJ Browns
One of my goals for 2018 was to catch a NJ wild brown trout. I can cross that off my list as I managed to land 3 nice little wild browns today. All were between 6" to 7" but jumped like they were twice that size. Now I need to go after the brookies!!! https://i.imgur.com/YeWNRHmm.jpg https://i.imgu...
