Re: Hot Spring 2018 Flies
Admitidly spring flies, particularly dry flies are not my strong point. So what are the hot flies everyone likes to tie for the spring season that should see some action? I still nymph early season with your standard pheasant tail and hares ear flies but I know many others will get fish on the line...

India Brook 4/22
With the nice weather today and the fact that I wasnt too hung over from the bachelor party the night before I decided to get some fishing in. Went over to India Brook and fished the upstream section. I just brought my ultra light and some trout magnets so I could fish and hike up without waders. Wa...

It's been a while since I've actually fished the Rahway. Usually down the police station in Cranford is a decent spot.

I am thinking about expanding out into fly fishing and I am looking forward to seeing everyone's posts. Lots of fly fishing knowledge here and even more as old members register and filter in! Getting some lessons through a shop will help shorten that learning curve and finding someone to meet up an...

Re: 2018 Dropbacks
Im right there with you. Only made it up once in the early season and it was a bust. Now it looks like most of my weekends are booked up for a while. Also, my damn waders leak so I have to send those off to Simms once I get a chance.

Re: South Branch 4/19
The water is probably still a bit too cold the trout to start actively going after spinners. With all this rain the trout are sure to be nice and spread out along the river, so thats probably why spots that were heavily stocked didnt produce many fish. As for the trout with stuff in its mouth, was i...

I would also think that putting some studs in them would also help if the soles are thick enough.

Bass Topwater
This long winter has me thinking of one thing; bass crushing topwater at night! One of my favorite ways to fish is for largemouth at night on topwater plugs! There is nothing better than the silence and darkness of night interrupted by the crashing sound of a big bass gulping down your lure at night...

Ok. No one stepped up so I will. I'm Tom, and have been running GST since it's establishment in 2008. While we can't see any of those historical posts now, this forum has a decade long history of great conversation and information. I started Garden State Trout to fill the gap left by the former NJ T...

Thanks Mike! I can only do so much with the software that's provided but a new color scheme and logo help freshen it up. Unfortunely as I have said, too much data got corrupted in the crash to restore the old site, so we are working from a blank slate for now. I may be able to restore some stuff in ...
