Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced
For some reason the info under What’s New on the FandW website was taken down. It said all State Parks are closed and listed the waters in those parks were closed to fishing and also indicated that all stocking for the season will be completed by 4/10.

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced
The beginning of this thread suggested that in season stocking would continue this year except that it will done randomly and stocking day closures will not be in effect. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that all stocking will be completed by April 17th or that the entire season allotments are currently...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced
I plan to go out tomorrow and don’t want to explain to the law why I’m fishing where I am. April Fools Day also crossed my mind.

Actually the stocking has started earlier than scheduled and those streams and lakes can be fished until 3/23. The list is on the F+W website.

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29
If I remember correctly the State stocked some fingerling rainbows in the lower end of Hockhocson Brook in an effort to create a steelhead run in the Navesink River, and as far as I know it met the same fate as the Toms and Manasquan experiments.

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29
About 10 years ago the State stocked 10's of thousands of fingerling brookies at several bridges below the Toms River TCA and continued to do so for several years. Within a weeks time some of those fish made their up to the TCA and were caught for a couple of weeks and pretty much disappeared and th...

Re: Albies starting to show on northern NJ beaches
Rob I'm a little out of touch with what is going on but I do know that the most reliable spot to catch albies in my neck of the woods is the tip of Sandy Hook which is a long hike and you will likely have 50 or 60 fishermen for company. I've caught quite a few albies from the surf but I've never spe...

Re: Who remembers Cam? Funny story
I remember Cam and glad all is well ,with him and his family and that he is back fishing. If I remember correctly I introduced him to the Toms and spent time with him showing him some of my secret spots and the most productive way to fish the Toms. I haven't fished for about a year because of the pe...

It's been about a year since I've been there due to being busy and the water being way too high for most of the last few months.

I too have always called that pool by the bridge as Gronskys. I guess that makes me an old timer which I am regardless of what the pool is called.

Re: List fishing licenses
One of the benefits of being old, maybe the only one, is I don't need a license anymore. Once you reach 70, no license required in NJ. In PA seniors can purchase a lifetime license for $65 unless that has changed in the last few years.

I did have a wicker creel at one point along with a metal worm container that strapped on my belt. I I even had a metal telescoping fly rod.
