Re: Natirar smallmouth fishing
Fished this spot on the north branch Sunday looking for some smallies. Got a few little guys and a bigger one further downstream. Expected more action but the water was pretty shallow. Great flows and clarity though. Fish caught on a tan clouser. Bob, sounds about right for that water. We electro s...

Re: Summer Time Fishing
Try fishing the lower SB Raritan, and the upper main stem for smallies. Good fun.

Re: Sulphur
Isn't that a golden stonefly? Or is it just an odd angle making it look like one?

SBRR the premier trout stream?
Admittedly I haven't followed trout stream regulations much since i'm 100% C&R, but reading the compendium this year I noticed the SBRR regulations on the upper section. Has this river become the premier trout fishing river in NJ? I've fished upstream from High Bridge the most in the last fifteen ye...

Re: Stocking
So, I believe stocking starts next week....I know Rusty follows the truck around to find fish catchable for him, who else here is a stocking truck chaser....My grand-dad used to chase it in PA, because grandma loved trout!!! I think they taste like shit!!!! If I see it I'll take pictures to let all...

Re: First Brook trout
Congratulations! I caught my first wild brookie over 50 years ago and I now spend the majority of my fishing time chasing them. 40 years ago I spent a week in Vermont chasing brookies, my first trip up there. It carried through til now, I'm so infatuated with them. I still get a thrill when I hook ...

Re: South Branch Advise
last trout I ever killed on purpose....that was 33 years ago.... Not trout, but... The last fish I almost killed, I took two bluegills out of the canal many years ago. Walked the fifteen minutes to the car, drove ten minutes home and put them in a bucket filled with water while I took a shower. Fif...

Black River Road
I was driving north on Black River Road from Fairmount Rd today, very scenic and fun. I was wondering who or what organization owns the posted lands up to Hacklebarney. Looks like fun water to fish. Even if you can't fish it, it looks like great hiking.

Re: Rhinehart Brook brown trout removal...
I have no issues with restoring native species to their original habitat. If I could have my way, I would eradicate all invasives from our environment. Brown trout, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, european starlings, house sparrows, pigeons, as well as feral cats, as well as many other fish and bird...

Re: Raritan river 11/9/18:
I once took two bluegills home that I caught in the canal near Millstone. They were bigger than my hand! When I got home, I put them in a bucket of water and took a shower. 20 minutes later I went to clean then them for dinner... I took them out of the bucket and they started flopping around. It was...

I used to kill 'em with a small muddler on a sink-tip line. Toss it out, let sink and swing, swim it back.
