Re: Who Wears A Vest?

I wear a vest that contains just about everything related to fly fishing that I've accumulated over the past 60 plus years and it ways a ton but I'm not about to change at this point.

Re: TU's Lopatcong Creek restoration project

That sure is a mess and amazing to me that it holds a strong wild brown trout population. Looking forward to seeing the final results.

Re: Keystone Select

I've stocked trout in NJ, Pa and NY. I find little or no difference between rainbows between NJ and Pa but My experience is that the brown trout stocked in NY to be far superior to any in the other States. It seems to me that those Browns fight harder, are more colorful, and show almost immediate in...

Re: Sink Tip Fly Line

I use sometimes a sinking leader which is like lead core line about 6 feet long and find it very effective fishing streamers in high water conditions. You can only use a short tippet with it, about 18-24 inches. Eliminates the need to purchase a sink tip fly line

Re: Little Lehigh Fly Shop

He moved out to Colorado after he sold the shop to Dave if I remember correctly. Lately I've been getting emails from him offering fly tying classes but I don't know from where.

Re: Connetquot Brook Trout and Toms River

I'm part of the misremembering thing also, it comes with age. It was salters for sure. By the way the striper fishing has been excellent the last few days in Monmouth County in a very rough surf. No keepers but seems several year classes are here with fish ranging from barely 12 inches up to about 24.

Re: Connetquot Brook Trout and Toms River

To give an idea of the holdover potential of the Toms we electro fished about 100 yards of the TCA on Sept 5,2007 which was prior to the Fall stocking and 4 months after the last Spring stocking. We got 39 brookies, 18 Browns and 1 rainbow. Also a catfish, 3 pickerel, 1 lm bass, darters, sunfish and...

Re: Connetquot Brook Trout and Toms River

I might add that for at least several years, this goes back probably 12 -14 years, there were 10 's of thousands of surplus brookies 4-5 inches stocked in the Toms well below the TCA. Some of those fish made it back to the TCA and above shortly after stocking but I never heard of any kind of recaptu...

Re: Connetquot Brook Trout and Toms River

I'm not aware of any plans to revive that program but you are correct that it was in the works and if I remember correctly all necessary approvals had been obtained before the disease problem at the Connequot hatchery ended it.

Little Lehigh Fly Shop

The LL Fly Shop has closed. Apparently being flooded several times this year plus less than robust business was why Dave decided to give it up. Nice man, I wish him well.

Re: Raritan river 10/23/18:

Hatchery rainbows spawn in the Fall Thank you, one more question. So why are they stocking only rainbows in the SBR, downstream of the WTS section? They said it's so they won't compete with the native brook trout for spawning grounds. If they both spawn in the fall, then it seems pointless, and I l...
