Re: Introductions!

Great to see some old, familiar faces! Hooli, your fishing days will come back, but you're in the diaper changing mode for a few years so enjoy it while you can because before you know it, your kid will be working for Bacala and then headed off to college! :) I'm Brian Cowden, co-owner of Trout Scap...

Re: Bass Topwater

I'm looking to spend a lot of time this summer chasing bass and pike with my fly rod. For some reason I have only used my fly rod for trout and whenever I would take my kayak out for bass and pike I would only bring my spin gear. Gonna change that this year! You'll want something bigger than a 4 or...

Re: Bass Topwater

This long winter has me thinking of one thing; bass crushing topwater at night! One of my favorite ways to fish is for largemouth at night on topwater plugs! There is nothing better than the silence and darkness of night interrupted by the crashing sound of a big bass gulping down your lure at nigh...

The Ridge & Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited will be holding a special cleanup of the Lopat at Strykers Road and Lock Street sights starting at 9 am. These two sites are or will be publicly owned lands that TU's staffer, Cole Baldino, will be restoring using my Trout Scapes River Restoration LLC fi...

Re: South Branch 4/19

I fished 4/19. Sounds like scuds but they were actively taking midges. By the way, lots of Hendricksons today but very few rises. I had an all day guide trip yesterday on the SBR, and I saw the same. Wednesday's Hendrickson hatch, by the way, was as strong as I have ever seen in this state. That ha...

Enjoy the trip! I have yet to catch anything over 8" on that river but I know one day I will make it up there for a few days and hopefully land something of a decent size!
In all my years going up there, I'm not sure I ever caught one that small. :D

Annual West Branch Delaware trip early May

It looks like the Hendrickson hatch is back to normal the last year or two in the Catskills, and that I should be knee deep in that hatch in two short weeks. This is my 18th year with a crew of anglers, liars, and world class whiskey drinkers that ascends on the upper D each year, settling along the...

Like the sign says, please report any sightings or incidental catches to the Division. This is great news for all of our hard work and effort put forth in this state by many to see the obsolete dams removed and native fish restored.
