Re: Access question
I have fished on many posted private property rivers & lakes without issue. Just be courteous & ask. I usually just go to the house & knock. Ask for permission. I tell them I'm a C&R angler. I just wanted to see if I can get your permission. 90% of the time they say no problem. Dont litter & destro...

lol. not hard to believe poachers picking special reg areas over open stretches.
crazy how poor of a decision that was, must have been real lazy to get caught like that.

Re: Access question
from what Ive heard/understand: Stocked waters doesnt overwrite posted property. The state will obviously stock where there's some public access, but it doesn't imply there's any more public access than there already is. Ive also heard posted property extends to the river. Now sometimes one side of ...

Re: Peapack Brook 3/9/2020
i actually froze a bunch back from 2012 and on occasion throw them into the brook; once they thaw out they start swimming. That explains all the browns you guys catch, they are not wild.Rusty Spinner wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 1:11 pm100% wild browns. We have no state holdover browns still alive at this point.

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29
As far as trout stocking goes, i have said for years I would like to see more fingerling/advanced fingerling stockings in the rivers where they could grow. I believe the little juniata in pa has wild browns as a result of the fingerling stockings. not sure if something similar could be done on the ...

Re: bows
ah I see, yes im new to the scene. cant say it's cheating for me cause my stealth skills are LOW . These streams with hungrier but spookish fish help me improve that skill a lot. Some of us are more stealthier than others. Me, not so much, but I do use natural screens like trees or crawl o...

Re: bows
Fishing WTS is like cheating by WTS I mean any stream with wild trout not just the ones the state lists in the digest under "WTS". not sure what's cheating about it tho. Were you a long time njtrout and tristate trout member? The saying goes back to those times. WTS streams, whether in the digest o...

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29
I'm all for tree planting. The Raritan river either has huge 200 year old trees or nothing it seems. I think in those areas the soil is more easily eroded way. More red shale. or whatever that rock is called. The trees get more easily uprooted. I think farming practices in that art of the state con...

Re: bows
I remember on the old forum how guys would get so defensive about fly vs spinner. It was like a guy using a spinner left a trail of dead fish floating down river. It was so over the top. They would sound like how the liberals talk about our President now. They take his words and spin them into some...

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29
What's interesting to me is that it's still trout maintenance down even under lake solitude. Always figured that lake destroyed the temps but seems like it's good enough to hold a lot of good trout. Probably due to the tribs?

Re: bows
Most C&R so no worries there. It was about too much pressure resulting in either spooked fish or smart fish both of which decrease fishing success. Your catch rates will drop fairly dramatically if 10 guys fish a WTS or some local bass pond over the weekend as opposed to just 1 or 2. You can share ...

Re: bows
There are browns in there too. Not a lot but a few. The closer to the stream it flows into, the more you see. Just be careful with your stream pics. Many streams have a distinct pool or rock or waterfall. I won't name yours but someone might just to be a d*ck. Its one of the reasons I stopped posti...

Re: bows
That second bow is a decent size. Nice job. Thanks, I was wondering if all of these were in fact wild. When I caught the 2nd-one-pictured I was doubting it. Despite how serious some of the barriers looked in the gorge, it only makes sense that the rainbows got here from hardcore stockies that swam ...
