Re: SBR 4-29

call those river suckers, you just landed a big one, usually they average 5-8" and are fairly skinny I'd agree with it being a kind of sucker. Never heard of a river sucker tho--interesting. I used to see them much more often in our streams but not much recently. They put up a decent fight if I rem...

Funny, that's what living in NJ will do to you!

Anyway, really nice fish. Was there much fight in them or did they just surrender?

Re: Musky

Hi, Fished the Musky today at Pt.Mt. by Penwell Rd. Had a great day catching Rainbows then lo and behold caught two Brookies. Both about 5inches long. They were small but with beautiful colors. Question. Did the state stock a bunch of Brook Trout? Are these stream bred? It would be nice to know if ...

The only native trout in NJ is the brookie. Anything else is either wild, or stocked. Keep it real.
Rollcast, for such an astute dude, I'm a bit surprised you didn't say to keep it "reel"...

Anyway, here's a good article about Rollcast's point: https://fishuntamed.com/wild-vs-native-fish/

I keep it ultra simple: I don't use a net.
Translation to English: "I never catch big fish, so I don't need a net".
I don't know if this will vindicate me or land me in even more trouble!

Re: "Zingers"

I've already been through some crappy, W-mart brand zingers that came apart after a short working-life. Any recommendations for more durable brands? :?: I run the zinger's tools first through the plastic clips of a vest or chest pack. That way, if the zinger breaks, the plastic clip catches the too...

Hi, Yes I did give two flies yesterday and he walked down stream. Are you the guy I gave them too? Did you use them and did they catch any thing? The large one was my own creation and I made it just messing around with the vise. Bill Vance. AKA Bill the mailman I always asks guys if they belong to ...

Best thing that could have ever happened to the fishing there.
Agreed, esp. during a pandemic when people from 200 miles away are always looking for somewhere to go.

LOL with the bagels. Looks like someone dropped breakfast. What is upstream, looks like access is tight?
Very difficult casting...think: on your belly, sling-shot casts. But if you can land a fly in a nice little pool, you'll be rewarded. I brought my 7'9" if that helps.

Re: I'm officially a chest guy

Thanks for the thoughts on chest packs. I bought this one, deemed a "mirco chest pack": https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MK16X12/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 During my outing yesterday, it performed well and didn't interfere with casting. It also allowed me quick access to my...

I'm officially a chest guy

 I bought a chest pack to hold my fishing gear. So far, everything looks like it'll work just fine but I haven't actually field-tested it yet.

To those who've fished with them: do you like them? Prefer them over vests?

When I fished the local BASS circuit we always shared what was working, even when money was on the line. More fun to see people catch fish and enjoy. The hendrickson hatch was on Sunday on the Broadhead. . If it's happening there it should definitely be happening in Jersey .
