Re: All state and county parks closed!

Hello all, my name is Ken, handle is Kennyp2339, long time lurker, first time poster, and I hate to say that this first post might be against the grain here. For starters, I lived my whole life in Sussex Co, enlisted in the USCG in the early 2000's, but ended coming back to the county because that'...

Re: All state and county parks closed!

I fished the upper SBR yesterday and made the big mistake of getting out well downstream of where I parked to walk back along the Columbia Trail. Big mistake - it was like the lines going into Giants stadium a half hour before kickoff. Social distancing was an absolute joke. And they now believe at ...

Re: All state and county parks closed!

They aren't keeping people away that I know of. You can still fish, for example. Unless I'm wrong. But I know folks have fished Stephens SP as recently as yesterday.

Re: Opening Day with Joe Brooks

Brian, Yup, you were born the year I graduated High School. As hard as I try, I can find nothing to document that Opening Day. I was sure that there would be a photo of him in the Freshwater Fisheries building in Lebanon, but nothing there to document it. I guess the only way would be to research t...

Re: Opening Day with Joe Brooks

I don't recall him although you seem to be a few years older than I am (born '65). If he were there on the opening day, he would have seen then Governor Hughes also fishing. I think every Governor until Whitman fished Saxton Falls pool on Opening Day. Whitman learned to fly fish at Pequest Hatchery ...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

The beginning of this thread suggested that in season stocking would continue this year except that it will done randomly and stocking day closures will not be in effect. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that all stocking will be completed by April 17th or that the entire season allotments are currentl...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

The slow roll of info on this change is working well. Fisheries biologists from the Division are on state stocked waters making sure they aren't crowded. I observed no more than three vehicles and often only one if any at popular spots along many of the northern NJ rivers yesterday. I hit a spot on ...

Re: Is Facebook Killing Trout?

If a full 1/3 of trout photographed died, private water clubs like Shannon's would see all their fish lost in a week's time. The members are required strictly C&R, but many members stop briefly to take a photo. And all the fish are caught multiple times, so this study doesn't in any way demonstrate ...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

The Governor announced this change yesterday for those that don't believe it or are awaiting formal word. I was posting the Shannon's private waters along Vernoy Road yesterday when the CO pulled up to make sure I knew about the changes and that he was driving the length of the river to let anglers ...

Isn't covid green? That looks like the h1n1 pattern
No, it is red. What you have been seeing is an Iphone emoji that looks like a virus and that is green. Everyone is using that emoji suddenly.

Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced

And they are..........starting 4/1 (Wednesday), trout stocked waters will be open on a C&R basis only until 4/11 which is to be the normal opener. Also, the Division will suspend in-season stocking day closures. Rivers will still be stocked, but randomly and not, for example, only on Fridays for the...

Re: social distancing on opening day ?

We are about to hear that the Division and the F&G Council have opened waters to trout fishing as soon as they make the announcement. The idea is to reduce the opening day crowds. Sounds like Catch & Release only until 4/11 which was the original "opener" and then up to six trout per regulations aft...

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies

I should be hitting a WTS instead of the SBR right now, but I'm obsessed with trying to be on the water on the best dry fly days, and our mayflies are just starting to trickle off around my area. But will all the rain coming, a smaller WTS will flash off quickly and let me fish for a while in peace.

Re: Another Access Question

Anybody know? Is there still public fishing access to the Musky behind the former Cassia Grill Restaurant (now Willie's Wieners) on US 57? A friend headed over there yesterday and called to ask the same question. I told him to go in the restaurant and ask and the friend said he would let me know th...
