Re: All state and county parks closed!
I agree, it is fully ridiculous to close the state parks. I can see closing the playground areas of parks, yes, but trails? Parking areas were definitely crowded with the recent nice weather but its not very hard to maintain a 6-10' distance from the people next to you. Im very curious how much pull...

Re: Is Facebook Killing Trout?
It amazes me that with all the information available to the angler I still see regularly on social media pictures of fish I know have a very slim chance of survival. I used to try and politely comment on it but it is almost always taken the wrong way. Thankfully, most of the Trout pics we see aroun...

Re: Changes to NJ trout season about to be announced
Hopefully they make it official soon, I want to try the Passaic near me (if they stocked it already). The best way to get trout in the passaic is to cast a large copper spinnerbait, the next step is to take the pike you catch and have them barf up the trout :o  Jk lol, Ive never fished for...

Re: Is Facebook Killing Trout?
Interesting read but its the same one I have read dozens of times over from different authors and researchers. People have been taking pictures of their fish and boasting about it long before Facebook had an impact. Forums like this used to be flooded with topics and pictures during prime trout seas...

The way you are holding those trout brings back lots of memories. Your hands look so soft too.
When are we going fishing again?

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies
You need a little 2 wt. Rod I only have a 3 and use that on tiny streams..its 6 and half feet of slow casting bamboo..shoots flies into places you couldn't imagine...I was bow and arrow casting the other day..with mild success..thats tough..too hard you fly whips past the target..to soft and it dro...

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies
Tom, you need a 6' bamboo rod. Perfect for that kind of stream. I have one now! Or maybe its 6' 6''? Either way, I could use it there but I still would have to do a lot of bow and arrow casts as room for a back cast is limited. On such a tight stream I think the UL spin rod still lets me cast to a ...

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies
Ive yet to find any fish of any size that a white 1/64th oz trout magnet wont catch :D damn i just have crap luck with them  I use these 1/32nd oz, sometimes 1/16th oz versions, of #8 jigs and tip it with a tiny worm plastic like a trout magnet. I love it for browns but never had a single ...

Thats the first "ghost" rubber net I have seen with the measurements built in! Custom made or commercial? Also, always like seeing a bamboo rod too!

Re: Nature Open for Business - Wild Brookies
Needless to say, its getting weird out there.... However, the fish are none the wiser and if you have the time, go fishing!! I took a drive yesterday and hit up a tiny wild brookie stream. Very tiny! Inches deep in most spots and a low gradient so the fish are spooky and mostly hidden in undercut b...

Go out to your favorite crowded spot, start coughing up a lung and complain of a fever and within seconds you will have the place to yourself!!
