Re: Rancocas creek (again)

I know of Medford Park, Laurel and Vincentown pond/lake, with public access. F&W has an online interactive map or list, with species list. Atsion Lake in Wharton SF is about a 20 minute drive from Medford; pickerel, bass, perch, sunfish, catfish. Any cranberry bog on state land will have pickerel in...

Re: Wet Wading Season Opener

catching a parasite infection from a semi open cut while in the water. I used to wet wade all the time as a youngster. Not now. read that some people can actual die from it. There was a guy that fell into some brackish water crabbing in south jersey. He started to swell up & then they started cutti...

Question. Did the state stock a bunch of Brook Trout?
I am pretty sure the last state stocking of brookies was about 15 years ago after Pequest was infected with disease.

Re: Van Campens restoration project.

Totally agree. DWGNRA is a BIG place from Milford to the Gap on both sides of the river. Not enough LE for the area, but even if there were, with the anti-LE environment nowadays, and it being a fed facility, I have my doubts of any enforcement. :(

I stopped using a net many years ago and crimped down the barb. Now use barbless. The net was something that always caught more branches than fish. ;)

Ken Lockwood

From F&W. "The middle parking area of the Ken Lockwood Gorge WMA, accessed from the north, is closed permanently due to irreparable road conditions. The dirt road along the river will remain open to foot and bicycle traffic. Walkers and bicyclers should use caution when traversing this stretch of ro...

Re: It was WORK & was worth it

I will always have a fond memory of one day on the Lamar River in YNP, just above Lamar Canyon in early Sept. I was wet wading, air temps in the high 70's, and upstream about a mile from fishermens pullout, doing well with hoppers. I hear a 'what are they taking', look up and there is a guy standing...

Re: Central Jersey Recommendations

I have to try saltwater on the fly, would a 5 wt rod work? There’s some cool marshy back waters in my town I wonder if I should give them a try. Get an 8wt. High Bar Harbor is a great place to start; easily fish the inlet side and the bay side. This club provides some very good info, worth joining ...

I am also from Ocean county; not much within an hour. You have the muddy Manasquan and a few lakes/ponds listed on F&W web site. Further north is the lower Raritan. It is striper time here and blues soon
