Re: NJTU State Council March Flytying Madness Mar 7 @ Cranford community center

The turn out was pretty good , even with the covid19 stuff going on , we had over 50 fly tiers on hand . All the tiers were very generous so it turned out well . I'm partial to the event so I think it's great , I'd love to hear some one else's feed back . Feel free to pm me if you attended .

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29

I think it's safe to say trout migrate into tribs from the Delaware , and not just the tail water part . I don't fish the muskie but if the lower river is as cold as everyone says I'm sure it's a thermal refuge for trout in that area . Maybe not big numbers but in sure there are probably a few .

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29

Connecticut has a interesting program that was in Trout magazine awhile back where they harvested adult wild trout , fertilized the eggs with wild trout sperm , incubated them At the state hatchery and raised them until they were I believe fingerling , then released them . So they shared the dna of...

Re: Public Meeting on Trout Stocking Program February 29

As far as trout stocking goes, i have said for years I would like to see more fingerling/advanced fingerling stockings in the rivers where they could grow. I believe the little juniata in pa has wild browns as a result of the fingerling stockings. not sure if something similar could be done on the ...

Re: Forest Fire on Mount Tamany/Delaware Water Gap

Guys who fish the Bushkill near Easton see meth camps in the woods. Not even in the woods in Easton & , same goes for the Broadhead I guess the question we should be asking as anglers is, "Might meth fumes attract bugs that Salvelinus fontinalis gorge on?" Yes it seems as if the best big brow...

Sponsored by Shannon’s Fly & Tackle in Califon, this is an opportunity to tie flies with oThers from the region. Once again it will be located at the Califon Fire Dept., located at 4 Main St, just up the hill from Shannon’s. They usually have b-fast sandwiches and burgers/dogs for sale to support th...

Re: WTS 1/30

Is there a big difference between cutting edge vs crap? I find some of the vintage spinning reels to be the same only that they click while reeling because of how anti reverse works, and a lower gear ratio. Some vintage stuff is better than new stuff imo...Bill H used to go after cheap stuff... I d...

Re: WTS 1/30

Fly fishing is about much more than catching fish, and bragging about the size of them. "What Joe said. Every fly angler knows he/she can catch more using spin gear. Every one of us. [/u] That depends on the conditions..if there is a hatch going on and fish are on the bugs, not even power bait will...

Re: Little Black Stoneflies

I would say a #14 , I've only seen it really thick as far as numbers once on the south branch like 18 yrs ago . It was a windy March day and they where blowing all over the surface .... The native brookies knew what they were .
