Anyone fishing???

Post by martalus » Wed Oct 07, 2026 11:21 am

Greetings from Mozambique? Anyone fishing for trout in NJ? Is fall stocking happening? Has anyone seen any spawning activity?
The last time I fished for trout was over the summer when I went skiing on Mount Hood-its one of the few places you can ski in the summer-it was great, but this year they only made it to July 18 as the glacier/snowfield receded more than expected. I skied in the morning and fished in the afternoon. Suprisingly, the rivers around Mount Hood are not very fertile as they are fed by ice cold snow melt-I got lots of small rainbows/steelhead smolt. When salmon/steelhead are running, it can be more fun with much larger fish. I also fished a lake one day and had much more luck with a few 18-20 inch holdover/wild rainbows a several smaller kokanee salmon. It was my first trip to Oregon and I will definitely be back-I met lots of friendly people on the mountain and on the water and the landscapes were breathtaking with snow covered mountains and massive old growth forests.

Fall stocking starts 10/13 for 2 weeks. Leaves are coming down fast, early this year

I'm in PA on a dam removal project on McMichael Creek near Saylorburg, so no time for hunting or fishing this Fall. I will sneak out at some point for both, but right now it's all hands on deck until 10/15 when we must end work in the stream and make sure we have clean water flowing around the site.
