Game Warden in action

Post by mtman » Mon Apr 21, 2025 6:28 am

On Friday April 18th.,the warden had a group of 5 individuals detained while he wrote each of them a ticket for no license. This was on the Musky in Hackettstown. The same warden who checked me about a month ago. At that time he said he would be cracking down on law breakers whether fishing or dumping violations. Hope he's able to keep up the good work.

I got license checked on opening day on the Rockaway. Warden's name was Sikora, nice guy we chatted it up a bit after he looked at my license. I gave him some additional intel on where I usually see guys doing nefarious things.

Random question. Is a picture of the front and back of a license on one's phone legal?

I dont know about NJ. But I did this in PA. the wardens there accepted it with no issues. PA also has a bar code so they can scan if they want

Says it must be 'visibly displayed on outer clothing'. Click the 'More info' tab.

Strictly for informational purposes, I had my license displayed in a clear holder but the holder was smaller so I had to tri-fold the license. The CO asked that I take the license out so he could fully inspect it. He also asked me to tell him my DOB to match it to the license.

So I'm not sure about keeping an image of it on your phone. Maybe as a backup in case you lose it while your out fishing. Don't know how receptive the CO's will be to that though.

No, not for NJ currently. But many states that is okay.

Fishing in Yellowstone backcountry, Grebe Lake, out of the tree's walks a anger, asks to see my Yellowstone license and I point to it on my vest. Out of habit I used the vinyl pin on thingy. His response was, "What a great idea, we should do that here". I guess the grass is always greener...

I keep all my current fishing licenses in a clear holder pinned to my chest pack. Yesterday I was in NY and moved that license in front of my PA license which I had used last Saturday, and that license was in front of my NJ license. I'd rather have a CO see it from afar than call me out of the river to show it to him, even in states that don't require display on person.
