Daily creel limit drops to 2 trout today

Post by Rusty Spinner » Mon Jun 01, 2026 11:21 am

New regulations in effect starting today. No more than 2 trout can be kept in General Regulations waters starting today (June 1). The idea is to keep more fish in holdover waters for early Fall when temps drop and anglers once again focus on trout.

what water? most of north jersey is lower than low. Going to be a lousy holdover year.

I know it's all waters. I was being sarcastic by saying what water, as in the water is so freakin low from lack of rain that there's barely any water in the rivers!

It is time to wet wade for smallies! I am flying back to NJ from Mozambique this weekend for a few weeks and I hope to hit the Big D once for smallies. I am also heading out to Mount Hood Oregon for a summer ski camp with my daughter-I hope to find some trout streams out there!

Tons of nearby trout water at Mount Hood. I've never fished that area myself, but I do know it has a lot of coldwater rivers and streams.

Yeah-I figure every bit of moving water in that area will have some kind of salmonid in it!
I am surrounded by water here in Mozambique with a 1,500 mile coast line but I have never gone fishing. I am just a coldwater/freshwater guy! There is trout fishing a few hours a way in the mountains of South Africa but I haven't gone yet. About 14 hours away there is great trout fishing and skiing in Lesotho, which has 11,000 foot mountains and lots of clean water-The English/Scottish must have seen it 150 years ago and said-this looks perfect for trout and planted some!

Hello, It’s been along time since I posted any thing. But looking at how much water is in the streams I have to post something. The Ramapo one of my first ever to fish when I was a kid. Right now you can probably walk across it without getting your feet wet. The only thing about low water in all of the streams is the animals ove it. Really how do the fish get away from the Herons and minks and other fish eating animals and birds. So let’s pray for rain. Flatbrook is another stream that needs water. I remember last year while fishing the Flatbrook I watched a Blue Heron out fish me I finally got pissed and thru a stone at it just to get it to move away from me. I cannot through worth a dip so I missed it by a wide margin. Again let it rain for the fish. Bill the Maiman
