I got to the hills north of Oldwick last night and as is my custom, I took a few casts in the big pool. Fortunately my first cast of a sulphur dry to the head of the pool had a nice 10 inch wild brown leap out of the water for the for the fly. I brought the colorful trout to hand much to my four year olds delight. This morning I went for a run with my kid and she found a worm and threw it into the same pool and a 16-18 incher darted out from its rock and grabbed it. It’s funny that the same rock always had a 16 plus incher when I was a kid. Water temps felt frigid, maybe high 50s as they run in summer when it hasn’t rained.
