Good fishing after (another) round of rain...
Good fishing after (another) round of rain...
Got out today and found streams in perfect shape. Wild browns aplenty and water temps actually not that bad. Nothing big but solid numbers of 8-11" fish.

Nice fish, I was hoping to get out today but just couldn't get free time. I'm thinking of going early tomorrow morning, hopefully the rivers will still be in good shape.

My question to you is where are these "native" Brook Trout the State keeps going on and on about ? Should they not be where you are fishing ?
Nice trout BTW.

Is this a WTS. I take it you were using barbless hooks also.

NJAngler catches plenty of native brook trout here in NJ. We do have many streams that are either 100% or predominantly brook trout.

Re: Good fishing after (another) round of rain...
There are far, far more "wild trout streams" in NJ than the 38 or so listed wild trout streams (WTS). That is why NJ separates waters into TP (Trout Production which means it is a wild trout stream by default, but doesn't mean it is listed as a WTS), TM (Trout Maintenance which means conditions are good enough for trout, but no wild trout are documented in different age classes to be listed as TP waters), and NT (no trout present other than stocked seasonally if at all). If he caught a wild brown trout, it came from a wild trout stream. But that doesn't mean in any way it came from only one of the listed WTS.

Nice fish! Is it sad that I knew the stream from only the first picture on the top row to the left? Got out there earlier this year but didnt get into any bigger fish.

The stream he was fishing does have brookies, but much further upstream.
