Van Campen 11/7/19

Post by dbarr15 » Wed Nov 07, 2018 9:47 pm

When most of major rivers are blown-out with all the rain the Van Campen was really nice and pretty clear. Took my 7.5 3WT and worked the potion north of Millbrook Village. Productive day and some great weather.

Nice pics thank you. What is the fly, looks pretty bare?

Were you finding good numbers of fish?

Yes - good numbers of fish, nothing of size but just fun to catch.
The fly is Tim's "Simple Midge Larva" and works great. I tie them in black, brown, gray, and cream. I use silver ex-small ribbing.

Great looking fish, I love how simple yet effective that fly is.

Fishing the midge solo or as a dropper?

Mostly rainbows.
That fly is great, I used it under a FBPT but all fish were caught with the midge.

What's a FBPT? I guessing some pheasant tail variant.
