Garden State Trout

Saw the stocking truck by my house yesterday.....there were actually a few truck chasers following him.......I was tempted to flip a few spinners but didnt get there......they stock the Rahway about 10 houses down the street from me.......

It's been a while since I've actually fished the Rahway. Usually down the police station in Cranford is a decent spot.

I was at the Rancocas (WB) yesterday and it was d e a d.... got a couple of sunnies.

Still no evidence of trout along that stream

LOL... just gotta meet up with the one in Medford

they're stocking this week again, I've almost gone through the entire stretch of the WB Rancocas in Medord but have a new spot to try, so will
see... the water temps are going to be good and would think the LMB won't be able to eat them all

these are the "trout" I'm finding in the WB R

Had some real slabs this spring

We have had a crane fly hatch that’s made everything go crazy on splatting popping flies on the surface

I saw the stocking truck today.....it was stocking fish...I made sure to drive the opposite direction....

flipping a spinner at the truck could be an exciting experience.

No doubt! I fished Round Valley a few years ago from my kayak and caught some the size of dinner plates. They pulled me around, left a small wake if I remember

No doubt! I fished Round Valley a few years ago from my kayak and caught some the size of dinner plates. They pulled me around, left a small wake if I remember

Should have taken them home for the dinner plate! They are some of the best tasting fish.

Should have taken them home for the dinner plate! They are some of the best tasting fish.

That they are!! I actually had some that were smoked recently, they were good but on the small size. You need to catch a massive one to make cleaning and picking the tiny bones out worth it.

Grind them up in a meat grinder, add some shredded potato, and bread crumbs. cheese too if you like.

I'm not necessarily endorsing this. It's a lot of work, and you have to kill a lot of fish.
I had an aunt who did a lot of entertaining. She would deep fry hundreds of small sunfish fillets and serve them like potato chips during the "cocktail hour" along with other finger foods.

Sunfish were the first fish my twin daughters caught at age 5. Naturally we had to have them for dinner. Pan fried the filets. They were good but you are right, they were the size of potato chips.
