Baetis mayflies 2/5/19

I saw a few Baetis mayflies fluttering in the air as I walked from my car into my building this morning. I keep a fly rod in the trunk just in case situations like this "rise up." Lucky for me there are a few streams (wild and stocked) within 10 mins of where I work; perhaps I'll tie on some BWO flies & hit one on my way home. Catching trout on top in February is one of my favorite angling activities.

I was on a small WTS stream Sunday. Saw midges and nothing else in the air.

Saw LBS and Beatis on the Musky yesterday. The warm temps got them popping for a few days anyway.

Fishing or surveying? Haven't been to Musky or any of the "larger" NJ streams since the rains blew them out. If fishing any luck?

Damn it, I can't sneak a day off to capitalize on the warm temps and LBS. Going back down for the weekend. Fingers crossed for President's day weekend.

Neither, driving Rick (stonefly) through the Walgreens drive through there in Mansfield about 30 feet from the Musky. Work has kept me too busy to fish so far this year.
