Does anyone happen to know what day they will be stocking The Gorge? I can't find any information on the website I believe last year they at least listed the day.

I heard they are no longer stocking the Gorge. They reallocated those trout to the Manville section of the Raritan.

I dont chase the truck but this winter has been very slow there. Not seeing many fish at all so I don't plan on going back unless they stock it or I'll explore some new spots.

I forget is trout fishing there open despite closures? If so i imagine the place is packed on any fair weather weekend these next few weeks.

Please don't stock trout in Manville... I want that stretch of river still open for the closures

No kidding i caught sone good holdovers there last early spring

Nothing says confidence booster like catching 18 just stocked rainbows in the gorge on a neon green mop .....
PS: when they stocked brookies in there , the first few days guys would catch 40 .....
When the state stocks a trout in the gorge , they get maximum return on they're investment. Catch and release probably is the only reason that place is as fisherman friendly as it is , in terms of numbers of fish . It would be amazing if they had a open hunting season on Herons and Merganser's as I'm sure they take a heavy toll on our local rivers .

KLG is over rated imo. Those trout there are pounded on a daily basis. The trout must get tired of getting a new hook into mouth everyday. Maybe 2-3 times a day. Ive watched as many as 10 guys fish the same exact spot after each other. Yes. The place is picturesque. But between the dog walkers that allow their pooch to swim rite in front of you, to some people wet wading to cool off in the summer. It really is distracting. I can think of a few other places that I can fish in peace. I do fish there in the winter when psi is off somewhat

I don't disagree with you , but if you are new to Fly-fishing , the pressured fish , crowded stream, forces you out of your comfort zone and makes you a better fisherman .

"It's filled with micronymphers! You are probably one of them. Are you fishing with small nymphs?" ~ Random person voicing displeasure in the parking lot last Friday morning.

It is a beautiful place that can be fun to fish, but I limit my time spent there because it can get frustrating. I am also the type who gets bored if I go to the same place all the time.

I was there yesterday...maybe 5 guys fishing the whole thing. The Gorge is a got to for me as it if 5 minutes from my house, and if you need a confidence boost, don't fish there off season as those fish get pounded and become a bit persnickety..so yes, small nymphs. As far as stocking down there yet? Hmmmm, I was wondering why there was a pod of 20 rainbows in the Aquarium Pool...LOL caught almost all of them and released them. Also got one really cool fish see the other thread.

5 minutes from my house,
Probably the primary reason I've fished it twice in 40 years, it takes me an hour and change to get there. I pass a lot of productive water on the way or an hour gets me into the Pocono's. Nah not really, its more cause of the crowds of a-hole's

I find the stretch Pre-KLG to be more enjoyable to fish. From Shannon's down to the bridge. Yes its not C&R protected. But 99% of the guys release the fish anyway. & Shannon's stock alot of niceeee fish in there for all to enjoy. I lmao sometimes when I see most of the guys down in the KLG  like they are rite out of the LL Bean catalog

I agree to what you say. You really have to be on top of your game somewhat to catch fish in KLG. Those trout have experience & probably  every fly in creation
