Trout Netting Replacement

Happy New Year Gents. Does anyone know someone in North Jersey who could customize size and install a soft nylon netting for a small brookie net. I've had this net for nearly 30 years and need new netting installed. It's a small net and none of the available pre-made netting will fit, plus I don't want to do it myself.

Most likely! If you are on Instagram look up Riversongnets. He builds his own custom nets so perhaps he could do just your netting. He does the clear “ghost” style rubber. So as long as a size exists he can install it.

Not trying to hijack or diminish your thread, just curious: how many people don't use a net at all? When my first one got worn out, I just never got a new one. Now I release all my fish in the water (as of late, at least; I hope no one can produce my infamous Gill Grab...).

No net required for small trout, but if you catch a decent fish and try a hand release, you can wind up with a hook in your hand/finger. I like the rubber mesh just because it is so safe to handle the fish. You have total control and the fish can be kept in the water as you remove the hook safely for release.

Fishing with a net is like cheating.
