The bug hatch was insane at Duke Island Park on the Raritan river. Heard they were stocking already, maybe that's what these are, fun nonetheless.

Nice Trout, looks like a holdover from the Fall. What was hatching, Caddis?

Tiny bugs, like gnats, lots and lots of them.

it will definitely pick up come spring. You will run into holdovers and also the spring stockies, but then also some smallmouth and any chance at the huge selection of species on the raritan.

but rn is also good too. SMB are already up and you could get to the holdovers before other anglers start to fish it.

Anyone know why Spring stocking started about a week earlier than schedule? Just curious.

It originally sounded pro active in case they get shut down, but it sounds like a head start since they are not allowed to have volunteer or outside help with said stockings...

I plan to help with stocking or had planned, we’ll see what happens.

Bill, I used to live at the southern end of Milltown Road in Bridgewater. I fished Jaycee Grove in Duke Island Park often as it was a stone's throw away. Those cliffs are a beautiful sight--thanks for the walk down memory lane.
