You just inspired me to pick up some chartreuse Keitech paddle tails & hit the main stem of the Raritan for some striper fighting ;)

dont bother, me and the gentleman who made the video both returned and they all moved out back to bay, couldnt find em in any run nearby either

But for future reference, the spot is ok every early spring and late winter. Ive caught a trout there one year.

Really great video. The lower Raritan is a classic Jersey gem imo!

One of my older friends catches stipers off the back of a landfill that borders the Raritan. Some of those fish exceed 3 feet in length.

Bill, Thanks for the videos, they were some really great fish there. That was a local secret for many years, few had any idea that it existed. Few even fished for them or had a clue of their existence 40+ years ago.

I worked in the fishing department at Efingers years ago in the old building. I had a customer come in and was buying big saltwater plugs. I thought the guy was either high or drunk when he said he was catching 20 pound striped bass during high water events in Bound Brook. It wasn't until I few years ago I mentioned to my friends maybe we should be fishing the Raritan river, I think we may be missing something here. Not only were the striped bass a secret for years but the American Shad run as well.
Throw in 5+ years of clean ups and some dam removal also.
