Awesome fish! What are they taking? Bunker chunks, spoons, plugs, senko worms, jigs??

Do shad come up the Raritan too?

I wanna give a try @ some stripers. The know the main stem pretty good. Dont want to ask where. But a time frame. Is it during high tide cycle that these fish are caught :?:

Use Google Earth to be your guide. Look at Lard Almighty's video on YouTube, heck he is standing at the Queens Bridge in Bound Brook catching them. Careful wading the river down by Piscataway, the bottom is shale and it's like walking on greased glass !. Looks like another flood this weekend, these fish ebb and flow with the river, come up when the water is high and drop back as the water lowers. All kinds of lures work, depends on how much current and how deep the water is. Fishing by DeMott lane, standing in 2 feet of water casting into 3 feet of water. I caught this one at Riverside Park in Piscataway on a small jig and an UL rod and reel.

Thanks for the tip Bill. I usually fish the main stem near the fish ladder & down to the maybe down to 287 wading. I have never fished it in @ Piscataway area. I'll think I pass on that area as you mentioned the greased glass effect. Im not keen @ all @ BUSTING my azz.....

Thanks for the tip Bill. That fish you've shown would have most likely broke me off. As I only fish with 2lb braid with a 6lb florocarbon leader :o  . i cant stress how slippery that shit can be. I stay away from it in any weather where getting wet is a problem.

STUDS!!!! Fresh studs! When I fished the Salmon River more the lower end of the river was similar. Lots of flat rock that the current just raced over!! If you lost your footing you were going for a ride. I changed the studs on my boots every year.

I know people used some form of screw that works decent. As long as its got some hard edges to bite into the rock you should be ok.

I use these: https://www.simmsfishing.com/hardbite-s ... IdEALw_wcB

Pricey, but grip better than anything I have used. I could walk across a flat slate bottom at the SR in 750 CFS and not lose grip!

Ive used stainless screws from https://www.melfast.com/ on my Patagonia boots. Solid & reasonable. Made it thru many seasons. The worst grip boots that I have experienced was those vibram bottoms. PURE trash imo. Busted my azz to many times. Got rid of them for the felts again

the lower section of that river is some slippery stuff. I mainly stay in Pulaski & up to the fly zone. Not as bad. But some fast moving water

found & fished that section today. Caught dry line fever & wanted to get out the house as work was slow due to weather. Figured I didnt want to be stuck in the house for 2 days waiting for the weather to clear up. I tried it today bewteen 2-6pm. The only thing was the wind was like blowing @ 40 mph @ times. It made it feel like I was surf fishing @ sandy hook with all the white caps  . But got the skunk :( . But that is a nice stretch of water. Thanks Bill for the tip & sharing ;)
