Leaky Water Towers along a WTS

Post by BiggerThomas » Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:18 pm

I went out today along a favorite WTS and noticed rusty discharge trickling from a water tower. The discharge ultimately leads to the WTS bank. Does this look harmful? Should I call DEP?

Anyway, I missed all 4 of the strikes I was blessed with today, each of which came at the end of my dry-fly drifts. Even though I learned last time to keep the fly in the water for the entire duration of the drift, I didn't take my own advice today. Oh well.

Stay well my angling brothers.

Others might know more about that kind of discharge, but those water towers look pretty suspect!

Looks like some pretty woods and a nice little stream. Were you after brookies or browns? Those flows look really low and clear-are they typical for that stream for this time of year? A couple of inches of rain are forecasted in the next couple of days. Tight lines!

Looks like just rust to me. I often wondered every time I walked by them when not if they would remove them as they appear to be way beyond being useful. I'm also wondering if the impoundment a little further up will have its dam breached one day. Has some nice bass in there. Years ago they blocked the flow of the main stream into the pond and now most of the stream runs adjacent to it. Thought that was a bit of forward thinking. That dam though has seen better days and has decades of sediment behind it.
