I made a quick 45 minute stop this afternoon back here at this same stretch plus another couple yards downstream... 4 smallies, biggest being 10". I am starting to like this river a lot.

I have heard that the Johnson club is planning a "restoration" of sorts in this area. Has anyone heard anything about that?
Yes, but it wasn't initially funded although I strongly suspect they will fund it on their own if they want it bad enough. They were in talks with my former employer. I had made that intro back when I worked for the other guy. Enhancement, not restoration although there was some need for restoration in spots.
If the Johnson's use any public money for that, they should be embarassed!!!
They tried, but didn't receive funding. No need for restoration, just enhancement was the reason. But rich people use the system to their advantage often. It's all about how you set up ownership, and those types of people have the best attorneys advising them and setting up ownership of their many properties. I'll tell you more tomorrow, but via PM. Can't give away all my secrets here on a public forum. ;)

10 inch smallies on light tackle in fast moving water can be a lot of fun! Mix in the potential for some bigger trout, and it’s a nice combination! Good work!

Speaking of this stream and fishing being a blood sport...

In the mid-nineties when I was a recent immigrant and just beginning to fish for trout here in NJ I caught and couple of really silver brown trout in that stream.

They were both very pink fleshed and supremely delicious!

It was in the days when I used to eat them if they were pan sized reasoning that there was a reason that the term 'pan sized' existed.

My rule was too small throw it back, large throw it back but if it is pan sized then the pan is where it was headed.

Now I only keep a few a year - sometimes none.
