browns before the big warmup

Post by coaltrout » Wed May 13, 2020 9:08 am

transitioning to warm-water species with these high (and consistent) temps rolling through.
So probably my last trout adventure until fall.
Caught a nice # of brownies in the raritan watershed, here were the two better ones.

hopefully more river smb and pike now. SMB was from NB raritan and there were some rainbows far from stocking points hitting my bass-baits

Nice shots. I like that pike shot a lot.

Nice fish. It will still be plenty cool for trout fishing for a few weeks it looks like.👍

Awesome fish but as others said, waters will stay plenty cool for trout. May is a great time for targeting all species as waters warm up to the low-mid 60s-cool enough for trout with lots of hatches but warm enough for more bass action. Down here in DC, water temps have stuck stubbornly in the 50s for the past two months-some bass action, but not ideal-that will change here in the coming days. I did stick a fat 22+ inch walleye and a 16 + inch smallie while targeting shad this past weekend here.

Nice fish of all species! Once the summer hits I stick with pond LM bass fishing in PA. Plenty of time to fish for trout though! I have yet to catch a pike in NJ and need to change that!
