It's day by day right now up there. My first trip was great Hendricksons but few rises. My second trip was sparse Hendricksons, but more rises. I need to hit the happy medium. But if you look at flows, they keep getting pounded by rains that swing north of us. The upper West Branch, for example, is getting dumped on right now (Monday morning). The Hale Eddy gauge is at 2,130 and steady, and the Walton gauge where the river comes in to the top of the Cannonsville reservoir is at 804 cfs and falling, but both will go back up later today and tomorrow. The WB won't be wadeable for at least another week, and likely more, unfortunately. Drift if you can. That river didn't get the crap beat out of it like most years in the pre-season with guide after guide and private boat after private boat beating the crap out of the banks chucking streamers. That's the only saving grace of this pandemic so far.
Darn..... The WB is where my home is @ when I go up there. I tried the EB a few times but it really didnt produce for me like the WB. The main stem was even better then the EB. So I guess my estimates are holding right now for late May to Mid June. Guess I start booking for hotels in the area now for those time slots. Trying to do more on the weekdays then ends. As the river gets swamped with drift boats and bank guys. Worst thing about when they open the bottom of the dams up. All that vegetation that flows into the water makes it HARD to fish
Hard to say what will happen to our rivers once the local economies of NJ/NY/PA/CT open back up. Right now, everyone has nothing but time on their hands to fish. But once work begins in earnest again for all, will people take vacation time to fish or is it too soon to say? I would have already spent 6 days in late April and early May up there for a trip that was cancelled and would be getting ready to head back up for another 4 day trip next week in normal years. This year so far is two up and back Beaverkill day trips instead.

I like to fish up there in the summer months. As its easier to find the fish. Just follow the cold water trail & they are there. The closer to the dams the better. Hence I fish no kill zones.

You got the right call on the economy up there. Anglers bring in the $$$$$'s for sure. Imo things mite be slower then usually since everyone will try to make up some loss $$$$ from this. So alot will be working more & have less leisure time.

I hope the BEST for everyone & to stay safe .....
