The last trout stocking will be on this week. With a GREAT change mite I add. NJF&W will not announce the stocking location until in the afternoon after the stocking has occurred. Citing safety reason for staff & the public. This should become a standard operating procedure

If after the current restrictions are lifted, they wish to resume utilizing volunteers to "bucket stock" up and downstream from the easy vehicle access points, they'll have to notify someone.
My local TU chapter normally solicits volunteers, via their website, their newsletter, and email. You don't need to be a member to sign up for the newsletter, or to get on their email list, and anyone can access the website.

Ive

guys fishing @ stocking points complain all the time about no fish. I overheard a european guy today on the ramapo river in oakland that he fished all day & caught nothing. While I waded in the river from 1 stocking point to another 1\8 mile & caught plenty of fish. I was thinking in my mind that maybe the trout didnt want powerbait today

or maybe you need to explore more if you want some fish to take home

This is how they handled all of the stocking this spring to date. Same went for the pre-season stockings. And anglers do like this and there is growing momentum in the F&G Council's Fish Committee to change it permanently going forward even once the pandemic is over. Plus keep the pre-season stocking waters open on a C&R basis again until the official Opening Day each spring.

I was a fool ! Do not underestimate truck chasers , on my ride home they littered my local stream . Chains with sardine sized rainbows dangling , they must have hacked the Pequest . They where there before I got my email .

Pequest WMA was pretty nice last night...basically had an entire section to myself from 6pm till dark. Nothing amazing but still got a few. Lots of footprints
