Apparently this video is from NJ. I have never seen a stream that looks like this with 14 inch plus wide bodied native brookies and browns side by side. Does this tannic stream look familiar to anyone??

I have an idea of possibly two streams, however I will not name them.

I am puzzled by it as I have never seen a stream like that or brookies like that. Also the browns looked different that I am used to. Also was that a stocked rainbow or a wild one? The kid said that was his first time fly fishing-looks like he is hooked now after a 90 minutes of fishing like that!

First time fly fishing a streamer, not first time fly fishing. He learned from some Canadian he said, and while they didn't catch any salmon, they did catch striped bass on the fly. I think I know this stream. And it was in April when there was ample water in our rivers and streams.

The stained water & the size of the stream should be a dead giveaway up in NNJ area

I'm almost positive that's the D&R Canal

Not the Toms - no boulders or rocks there. Otherwise there is some resemblance.

Ditto, definitely not the Toms.

I was just joking on the Toms-the only similarity is the tannic water.
Was the rainbow in the video wild or stocked?

Yeah, those wild brown have very distinct markings like I have never seen in NJ... and those are some big-ass brookies.

I'll throw out a guess and mention a stream only because its mostly public and very well known. Sorta looks like the Black River to me but I've never caught browns or brookies that looked like that in there so perhaps it was filmed below Hacklebarney on the private club section.

Well that brings up another question-could they just be brookies that were privately stocked?

i dont follow the channel so I may be mixing it up with another gentleman; but I think the channel is notorious for fishing private clubs and off-limit waters

That is much smaller than the Black River. Your giveaways to knowing it is northern NJ are the hemlocks, rhododendron and steep gradient. The tanic color comes from the hemlocks and other pines and oaks that shade the stream.
