I ventured out to a little stream today and picked up some wild brookies (all on midges size #16). What a nice day. Places like this make me realize life is short.

I get them big like that sometimes on my porch light. I'll take a picture next time I see a big one.

Please, gentlemen. Can we not drift from the purpose of this post which was to justify the use of a sealed drag on 5-inch trout?

Was hiking around Merrill Creek Reservoir about 7-8 years ago and there was a huge swarm of non-biting midges that were about a size 16. Diptera/Nemactocera is a large suborder with many families. These were Order Diptera, Suborder Nematocera, Family Chironomidae, genus and species - ?? (there are over 700).
