First trout of 2021...

Post by NJAngler » Sun Jan 03, 2021 12:33 pm

Nice 48F day and good flows meant time to fish. Printed my license and headed to a can’t miss stream. Action was slow which was expected given the 37F water. Picked up 5. Apparently others had the same idea. Saw 3 other anglers which for a WTS is a lot. I had to stealth around them. Don’t think they saw me. They were all fishing together which is weird to me. Fishing is about you vs the trout. If you bring company, it’s now you vs them. I really don’t see the fun in that especially with the water so cold and high. Idk, I was a social distancing angler long before Covid. A few yrs ago if I saw you coming, I would duck off the trail and avoid you not saying a word. Back then some considered that rude. Now it’s proper etiquette. Lol.

No stream pics. I’m not playing the “ let’s guess where he was “ game. If you don’t see footprints at your favorite secret spot, it means I was probably there. I’ve learned to not leave any. 😉

Nice browns. I remember running into you a few years ago on a stream. I recognized you by your waterproof camera

I think I still owe you a burger, btw.

What a difference a day makes. I also ventured out yesterday to a WTS.
Didn't take pics, caught a rainbow and brown. Water was cold and murky.

pretty browns,
I fish WTSs with a friend sometimes, usually it's a turn-taking thing where one guy takes point, swap every time a fish is caught. But with 5 guys, idk how that'll be fun on a WTS
