Behemoth wild brookie
Behemoth wild brookie
Hit two new WTS today. Caught this monster brookie in the first stream which was a pretty tiny creek. I think the zebra midge might of been bigger than him. Pic is of the second stream which looked amazing but I didn't get a nibble than towards the end of the day I set the hook on what was probably a rock, line comes flying back at me as I watch in horror as leader, strike indicator and fly turns into a tangled mess. Didn't have it in me to sit there and untangle it so I called it a day.

Beautiful water in that hole. Hopefully that little guy grows into a true behemoth one day...

That trout has a beautiful dorsal fin. Looks like a nice stream, too.

At least you know that they have been spawning recently!

Pretty fish!! Looks like a real drag ripper? Did you have a sealed disc drag??

Re: Behemoth wild brookie
Pretty amazing to think that is a one year old brook trout. Now compare it to a one year old trout from a hatchery that will be between 9" and 11" due to 3X/day feedings.

I don't even know what sealed disc drag is, the reel is the only one I've ever used and its an Orvis Clearwater reel that I bought 25 years ago when I was in high school. Straight up miracle I was able to land this one without it.

Got that right. It's amazing you landed that damn trout without a sealed drag. Better go out and buy a lottery ticket while your hand is still hot.
