Places to fish in NJ

Not just trout, but I figured it would get more views here. The Division of F&W just released their updated list of public waters and species that can be caught in each waterbody.

Found a mistake already.
Crystal Lake in Oakland is not owned by the municipality. It's owned by a predatory (members only) lake club that's suing everybody who owns property that was developed by the same developer that created the club.

Having said that ...
The Borough just bought a few flood prone lots on it's banks, but there's been talk of a fence to keep non-members away from the club's water.

The rest of Bergen County appears to be in order.

I think that's the first time I've ever heard that.

Cartop launch in Ramapo Lake? That is one monster carry in... unless there is some secret entrance but I doubt that.

Yes there are tons of kayaks and paddle boards ect out there. Ramsey Outdoor has a concession for kayaks ect. Lots of activity. Bass bugged it a bunch when if first became public but it was mediocre at best and was better when it was not public of course... needs a state bass reintroduction of largemouth in my opinion. Loads of carp. And my theory (and there is some literature out there supporting this hypothesis) that too many carp interfere with bedding bass and spawning. I suspect this is possible cause to the bass decline.

I fished that place as a kid back in the late 70's daily. I used to sneak in from the church parking lot. Had some lunker bass in there for sure. Didnt have enough guts to fish the dam area thou. I remember I used to walk that strip that divided the bodies of water. BEST bass fishing around ;)

Hello. I can barely remember fishing Franklin Lks. when I was 18. At the time it was still a dairy farm. I would park the car about 1/2 mile away and sneak through the woods lay on my stomach and cast into the lake. I would fish across from the barn. I could fish for about an hour or so before the guard would hollow and shoot up into the air with his shot gun. That would get my attention and would run to the car. I caught a few bass and some sunfish. They were fun times back in 1955. I also would sneak upon Fred Warring place on the Ramapo and cast into his lake. At least I never got caught on his place. There is a pond off Van Syckels Rd behind the museum.
