Washing Out Wader Stink
Washing Out Wader Stink
Getting complaints. BTW, these were my first chest waders. In the beginning, I didn't know anything about wader maintenance; I didn't even turn them inside out to air after using them. After years of use, now it's time to try to get the stank out. Any recommendations on products to safely wash breathable waders with?

I use the same method I used for my sons hockey bag, its the most effective way. Turn them inside out, wipe them down, and throw them into the a fire pit.
That stank never goes away!

I'm not understanding why this is even an issue.MickyFinn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 10:21 amGetting complaints. BTW, these were my first chest waders. A garbage can is where they belong. Thay stank, which I smelled on someone else one day is deadly...it will spook fish and all the wildlife around if it doesn't kill them. One positive, you get lots of alone time.

stuff a few fabric softener sheets in them. leave for a few days. It will absorb the moisture & funk

...So much for wasting money on products to clean those stinking waders...
Thanks for the responses--even if they are tongue-in-cheek ones.

Re: Washing Out Wader Stink
Just wash them like you would any of your other clothes. Most anglers have no idea that they are SUPPOSED to wash their breathable waders because it keeps the pours open and the material working. I just use a small amount of detergent on a gentle cycle and air dry when clean. No stank. I'm sometimes in my waders for 14 straight days working on rivers, and I wash them about every 7 full days, so even on the road I will run them through the hotel laundry once.
