A few nice browns...
A few nice browns...
They may not be native but they sure are fun to catch.

Very nice! where were you? south / central / north / NW NJ? My neighbor was at the Paulins kill yesterday near stillwater, he's a spin caster but he said the fishing was turned off for lures, he stuck with the spot / area for 2 hours, was just about to give up when another guy walked down and started fishing with a fly rod, that dude pull out 6 trout in 20 min, neighbor said it was one of the most frustrating things he's witnessed in a while lol. As for me, I was convicted & sentenced to a weekend filled with yard work, apparently just for being a nice guy by my other half lol.

The only native trout in NJ is the brookie. Anything else is either wild, or stocked. Keep it real.

Rollcast, for such an astute dude, I'm a bit surprised you didn't say to keep it "reel"...
Anyway, here's a good article about Rollcast's point: https://fishuntamed.com/wild-vs-native-fish/
"Most anglers spend their lives in making rules for trout, and trout spend theirs in breaking them."

Spinner fishing in northcentral NJ. With the colder weather hatches have been sporadic at best. I've seen very few rising fish. I keep a fly rod handy in truck just in case its clear my spinner is not going to do it.kennyp2339 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 8:54 amVery nice! where were you? south / central / north / NW NJ? nice looking browns! Any other species left in there? If its the steam I think it is, there used to be some wild brookies and bows too.
Re: A few nice browns...
The times that I've been out so far this year when it's been warm, the hatch activity has been good with fishing working them and emergers. The couple of times the cold front have moved it really shut down the hatches and the fish. A warm up is coming over the next week, that should really get things busting loose, pack away the spinning rod.NJAngler wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 2:38 pmSpinner fishing in northcentral NJ.
