Same pool as where I caught this one last month when I visited home. There have always been loads of wild browns in there since I was a kid.

Thanks! Its interesting to see the difference in coloration for two wild brownies from the same pool. I guess the bigger one has switched over to a more fish eating diet, hence its spots are more black and less colorful than the smaller trout. I seem to remember someone once saying that when wild browns get over 12 inches, they feed more on other browns/other forage fish, hence a change in coloration. There aren't many bait fish in this brook-maybe some dace and every couple years I see some pumpkin seeds in this pool (no idea how they get there, but sometimes in the summer I catch a few tiny pumpkin seeds in this pool-water temp NEVER gets above 60-62 F hence the name 'The Cold Brook', so not really ideal for warm water species). All that to say that the big brown of the pool must certainly be cannibalizing its young!

nice fish from cold brook, one of the few WTS in my area that I have yet to trespass on  lol. I never found out if there's public access on the main stem of it

Well, after 42 years, my parents are planning on selling soon and downsizing. So if you are interested in some stream front property and 5 acres (mix of woods/pasture/yard) with a nice 4 Bedroom house with finished basement, let me know. There are lots of woods surrounding my parents land as well with deer now bear always walking through their property in case you wanted to put a tree stand up too in addition to catching wild browns.

Now it's downright hot. I would expect trout are dying in some areas and tomorrow will be worse. SBR hit 80 degrees today in High Bridge. Probably a couple few degrees cooler above Califon and through the KLG...ugghhh.

Yup, I wouldnt be surprised if there was a fish kill today. There is some rain and cooler temps coming but today will be brutal.
