Army wins inaugural Army Navy fly fishing contest

Post by barkeater » Sat Oct 30, 2021 5:29 pm

Down by three inches with a minute to go, the cadets pull it off with a 13 inch Brown and the stadium goes crazy!

Thank you to the Raritan Inn, Shannons and Trout Unlimited as well as to all the other volunteers for hosting this really great event for the cadets and midshipmen. The winning army team pictured below.

No but Tim Flagler was filming so hopefully there will be a video. Correction, group picture is both of the cadets and midshipmen.

This makes total sense since the Navy guys only know saltwater species. :D

I see the smiley, but I once spent part of a day on the Gunpowder Falls informally guiding a midshipman at the Academy who was from Bozeman, Mt. He certainly knew trout. And I once worked with a retired Naval officer who'd spent much of his career in Colorado, when Cheyenne Mountain was a going concern.

Midshipmen are required to compete in a sport to graduate. I wonder if fly fishing counts?
