Opinion on waders

I will be in the market for a new set of waders soon. My current pair which are Simms G4Z are 4 years old already. As they been holding up great. I know that waders are a wear item. I have no complaints about them. But probably getting near its end of serviceability.
I have have pairs of Redington Sonic Pro HD. they were good but started to leak after a year. But the warranty was great as I sent them in for repairs and they sent me a new updated pair
. I used to purchase cheaper new waders every year.
But that didnt really pan out from yearly replacement costs. I probably spend about 180 days in the river fishing. So I do use them. Cheaper quality waders will not be a option.
With that said. what have your guys experience on waders out there ? . 4 years of technology had to improve on waders since my purchase

If you got a solid 4 years+ on your current pair of Simms fishing basically every other day then why change brands? I doubt you'll find a brand that'll wear better than that. Sure they are pricey but once you amortize the price over the years of service vs. replacing cheap waders every year it's closer to a push. In the long run you are better off with the longer lasting more expensive pair.

I would stay with Sims waders and get the best ones you can afford for the amount of time you spend in the river during a year. 180 days is alot so maybe some the guide level sims waders

I've been using the lower end Aquez waders for a few years now, and I'm impressed with quality, material and performance. I'm not in them 180 days a year as I fish my share of blue lines where I use hip-boots, however I do use them a lot, and they are not babied.

I still think Simms makes the best waders for the money, hands down. I have successfully worn Redington waders with the front zipper and have fallen in love with that feature. Whether I go back to Simms or stay with Redington is TBD. Both have given me 3 to 4 years of wear per pair. That's all I need from a pair of waders.

I dont know if you remember me. But you donated 2 pairs of stocking foot waders for me to try out before I bought a new pair. We meet @ a camp ground near KLG
I was always using cheaper neoprene boot foot waders. After I tried stocking foot waders. I never went back to the boot foots.

I like my G3. It a older version. But I keep it around for back up or when a friend wants to go fishing that doesnt own any waders. I find the G3 to be more comfortable & breathable in the summer months. Unfortunately these are not the front zip up version. Having this feature has me spoiled when its that time to go & taking them on & off. Ive been lucky as to never having to send these back to Simms for any issue's. But I have been told there warranty is excellent

So far so good with these. I was just thinking that some new technology mite have been introduced into waders since my last purchase 4 years ago. Simms is definitely a name that I can trust as these have lasted this long. Ive got a pair of Redington Sonic Pro HD. the 1st version leaked within a year. they sent me a 2nd updated version with no issue's. they are very comfortable. But that 1st failure has me a little skittish about the longevity. I use them for backups when I travel out of state to fish

The Redingtons is my 1st pair of front zips. There no going back from not having that feature imo. But my 1st pair leaked with in a year. They sent me a updated version under warranty. But that seam weld leak on the booties I experienced kinda made me skittish on the brand.

Same here, thanks to Cappy. Dettes was literally the only supplier that had a "L". And sorry, I said they were made in ROK, they are actually made in Japan. The best guitars I have ever owned were made in Japan. Apples/oranges I know, but still....

Waders from every manufacturer remain difficult to obtain for fishing stores since Covid hit. It's gotten slightly better, but only slightly.

. Guess this is a instance where purchasing a quality product comes in handy
. You wont have to replace as often as many have stated on here

Not to mention if you buy from Simms, you get an American made product that won't get stuck on a container ship here waiting to be unloaded from China.....
