Stay away from the Black River until further notice. I got skunked there today and I highly doubt there are any fish in that river, even tho it was stocked two weeks ago.

I used to catch fish there but not too much as of late. In fact, my largest Brookie(a fat girthy one) came out of that river, but it doesn't fish well for long, in part because it heats up quickly in the spring. I also tried the two wild streams but to no avail.

To Quote Yogi Berra:"Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

Used to do well there back in my bait days but that was many moons ago. Don't think I've fished it in at least 25 years. I can get to other places with less traffic hassle than going to Chester.

Tree words: Kay Mill dam. Remove the dam, improve the fisheries. But nobody is focused on that removal. Funding would be very rough to obtain. It doesn't benefit anadromous species and there are no other dam removal efforts for that river. Not to mention that Morris County Parks rehabilitated that dam maybe 10 or so years ago.
