Urban wild brown fishing yesterday

A buddy and I fished a Bergen County stream yesterday full of wild browns and some stocked rainbows. We were looking for the presence of wild fish well downstream of where the current dividing line between TP (trout production) and TM (trout maintenance) waters meet. And we found them in good numbers. This river is habitat limited due to the incredibly dense human presence in that county, but there they were eating our flies all day long in four different towns, all of them downstream of the old line for wild fish production. Now the Division fisheries biologist can target a few sites to confirm as the only fish we didn't catch yesterday would be YOY (young of year) which is required in summer months along with multiple age classes of that trout species to be considered TP water. TP carries protections not present on NT waters, for example. We (TU and NFC) are asking a lot of this biologist for his help identifying issues on a native brook trout stream of which little is known, so we wanted to help him with information on another stream/river in his area. I love that I sometimes "have to fish" for my job!

Ive encountered many wild trout species in the upper Bergen county waters. Its nice to see them thriving in numbers !!!. many fisherman dont knwo where to fish for them. I prefer to keep it that way

Yeah, I didn't mention the stream by name for that reason although we only saw one other angler all day and he said he just stopped to fish quickly on his lunch break and wasn't keeping any fish.
