Hey hive mind, I know some RVTU folks and I am sure other have been to Penns Creek and Poe Paddy campground. I'm heading there Sunday for two nights. Anything I should know ahead of time? I'm bringing a bike....good idea?

Anything at all is appreciated.

It is a fun place to fish. Find out what is hatching at one of the shops. Jonas and Bruce are both nice guys. It is pretty straight forward except you have to target fish you see rise. It is really not river you blind cast drys in. It is not necessarily easy but I always thought Penns was not a hard place to fish if there were bugs. I will be honest I never nymphed it. I would not drive there to nymph. If it is warm there are a bunch of brook trout streams in the area. There is also the spring creek in coburn that I can't remember the name of. It hits Penns with a charge of cold water and the hatches are a little behind Penns. I have fished penns few different weekends and did ok to good.

Thanks, all. It's a great place. I caught fish on nymphs and dries, but most came on streamers in the am. Poe Paddy campground has nice fish right in front of the site, but the bigger fish, naturally, were in long pools with some structure and action a mile or so up and down stream. My dry fly casting leaves much to be desired so I threw and stripped heron flies, Micky Finns, and olive buggers through, trying to get a pass in front of the boulders i could see. I lost two that felt epic, but landed some PB range browns and one sizable rainbow.

The bugs were huge with plenty of Iso and Sulphur among caddis and golden stones. I saw one green drake spinner that blew my mind.

Yes, and had a nice time. Multiple fish, browns, one rainbow, a few chub, bass, and a sheep's head! My first fish on the dry, a gentleman on the bank told me, was a fall fish. The camp ground was great including large trout right outside my tent!

The Iso were huge. The Sulphur and yellow SF were big too, but I couldn't get over the Sulphurs.
