North East flooding.

Post by 46er » Tue Jul 11, 2023 8:14 pm

Anyone planning to head to the north country; serious flooding, more expected this weekend that may also affect ME. Long Lake in the ADK's has declared an emergency, roads closed, no one allowed to travel. Really bad in VT, not so much in NH.

I was surprised to hear that this was worse than Hurricane Irene for parts of Vermont. We at the Native Fish Coalition remain concerned about channelization using bulldozers like we saw post Irene. So far, Vermont state government has given us some assurances that they will not allow such broad, non permitted use of heavy equipment which wreaked havoc to fish habitat like they did after Irene and that new regulations have been put in place to thwart a lot of that. Time will tell.
